Mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide (elamipretide)

SS-31 (elamipretide) is a four-amino-acid peptide that concentrates inside mitochondria and binds cardiolipin in the inner membrane. It is studied in research on mitochondrial dysfunction, heart and muscle energetics, and aging.
